Join artist\nNazaf arin Lotfi and Co-curator Erin Joyce for a conversation about their\nwork as part of the exhibition Mending Across Borders &\;\nBoundaries.
Nazafarin Lotfi is a multidisciplinary artist based\nin Tucson and Chicago whose work spans sculpture\, drawing\, and performance\nto exp lore identity\, place\, and absence. Born in Iran\, she holds an MFA\nfrom the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and a BA from the\nUniversity of Tehran. Her work has been exhibited nationally and\ninternationally\, i ncluding at MOCA Tucson\, Phoenix Art Museum\, and\nArtpace.
Erin J oyce is a curator\, scholar\, and arts writer based in\nPhoenix\, currentl y serving as Vice President of Public Affairs for the\nNative Arts + Cultu res Foundation and Faculty Associate at Arizona State\nUniversity. She has organized over 35 exhibitions across the\nU.S.—including notable projec ts like Still Life No. 3: Raven\nChacon (Heard Museum\, 2019) and Crafting Resistance (ASU Art\nMuseum\, 2023)—and has been reco gnized with the 2023 Rabkin Prize for arts\njournalism. Join acclaimed\nar tist Leslie Rego for a two-evening introduction to the expressive art of\n watercolor. Designed for artists of all experience levels\, Leslie will\ng uide participants through the foundational techniques of watercolor\npaint ing\, including brush handling\, color blending\, and creating light and\n shadow.
By the end of the workshop\, complete a watercolor landscap e\nor nature-inspired scene using techniques demonstrated in the workshop.

Try your hand at\n printmaking using a press. Cut a 4x6 linoleum block and do a simple\none-c olor print. Work from images provided in the Open Studio\, or bring in\nyo ur own to work from. You are also welcome to bring your paper to print\non . Caty Kendall will be assisting everyone with using the press and\nlearni ng some of the basics of the printmaking process.
