 nImpressionism at the Art Institute of Chicago. Curated by Madsen\, the\ne
 xhibition marks the centennial of Cassatt’s death and includes more than
 \n75 paintings\, pastels\, and prints of this pivotal period when she took
  her\nart making in new directions. In the prime years of her career—the
  late\n1880s through the early 1900s—Cassatt pursued ambitious and exper
 imental\nwork\, reinventing the representation of mothers and caretakers w
 ith\nchildren\, creating complex color prints\, and undertaking an unprece
 dented\nmural commission for the 1893 World’s Columbian Exposition in\nC
 hicago.</p> <p>Annelise K. Madsen is the Gilda and Henry Buchbinder\nCurat
 or\, Arts of the Americas at Art Institute of Chicago. She is\nparticularl
 y interested in elevating historical women artists in an effort\nto recove
 r and revalue the contributions and stories of female makers. In\naddition

 ncludes more than\n75 paintings\, pastels\, and prints of this pivotal per
 iod when she took her\nart making in new directions. In the prime years of
  her career—the late\n1880s through the early 1900s—Cassatt pursued am
 bitious and experimental\nwork\, reinventing the representation of mothers
  and caretakers with\nchildren\, creating complex color prints\, and under
 taking an unprecedented\nmural commission for the 1893 World’s Columbian
  Exposition in\nChicago.</p> <p>Annelise K. Madsen is the Gilda and Henry 
 Buchbinder\nCurator\, Arts of the Americas at Art Institute of Chicago. Sh
 e is\nparticularly interested in elevating historical women artists in an 
 effort\nto recover and revalue the contributions and stories of female mak
 ers. In\naddition to curating Mary Cassatt: After Impressionism\, Madsen h
 as\nco-curated Georgia O’Keeffe: “My New Yorks” and curated and auth
 ored\nJohn Singer Sargent and Chicago’s Gilded Age among many exhibition
 s and\npublications at the Art Institute. Madsen holds a PhD in art histor

 nDance is designed for youth and teens who have some previous dance\nexper
 ience and are ready to build their skills in traditional Mexican\nfolklori
 c dance. Students should be comfortable learning choreography\,\nfollowing
  rhythmic patterns\, and developing increasingly complex movement\nand foo
 twork.</p> <p>Through movement\, music\, and structured instruction\,\nstu
 dents will strengthen coordination\, rhythm\, posture\, zapateado\n(footwo
 rk)\, skirt work\, and performance skills while learning dances rooted\nin
  Mexican folkloric traditions.</p> <p>Instruction is offered primarily in\
 nSpanish\, with English support as needed\, creating a bilingual and\ncult
 urally enriching learning environment. This class emphasizes continued\nsk
 ill development\, technique\, confidence\, and ensemble work\, preparing\n
 students to take on more advanced choreography and performance\nopportunit

 \,\nBeginners Welcome</h5> <hr /> <h5>About the Instructor</h5> <p>Brie\nS
 chettle is an interdisciplinary artist working at the intersection of art\
 nand ecology with a background in drawing\, painting\, printmaking\,\ninst
 allation\, photography\, and video. Schettle holds an MFA in Visual Arts\n
 from Boise State University and a BFA in Painting and Drawing from the\nUn
 iversity of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. She has exhibited work both nationally\na
 nd internationally and participated in several artist-in-residence\nprogra
 ms\, including La Porte Peinte in Noyers sur Serein\, France\, and the\nBu
 rren College of Art in Ballyvaughan\, Ireland. Schettle completed her\nthi
 rd residency and first fellowship in 2020 at the Sitka Center for Art\nand
  Ecology located on the Oregon coast. She has exhibited work in Idaho\ninc
 luding the Neri Gallery\, Blue Galleries\, Jack’s Urban Meeting Place\,\
 nSurel’s Place\, and the Stein Luminary at Boise State University. Schet
 tle\nhas a background in teaching\, curating\, and previously working for 
 numerous\nnonprofits and art centers including the Anderson Ranch Arts Cen
 ter. She\ncurrently teaches art at The College of Idaho and the College of
