Spend two nights learning one-point and\ntw o-point perspective from Emily Nathanail\, a local designer and founder of \nCreative Design Studio Emily Rose Designs. The first session will focus on\nhaving a deeper understanding of the foundations of perspective. Learn the\nmeaning of terms such as horizon line\, two-point perspective\, vani shing\npoint and three-point perspective. Complete a black and white archi tectural\nsketch using inspiration from the neighborhood (weather permitti ng) or from\npersonal architecture inspiration that you bring to class.

Raphael: Sublime Poetry showcases the artist ’s late\nmasterpieces to highlight his poetic imagination\, technical br illiance\, and\nlasting influence on Renaissance art.
Ela ine French holds\na master’s in art history from San Jose State Universi ty. She has taught\nart history at San Jose State as well as at the Colleg e of Southern Idaho\nand has lectured at Sun Valley Center for the Arts an d at the Ketchum\nCommunity Library. She received a Ph.D. in educational p sychology from\nStanford\, an Ed.M. from Harvard\, and a B.A. in Art Histo ry from Wellesley\nCollege.

For this Teen Night\, we’ll explore a DIY\nprin tmaking technique inspired by a video\nfrom YouTube\, using recycled Tetra Pak car tons to create detailed\nprinting plates. Participants will cut\, score\, and etch designs into the\npackaging material\, then run their plates thro ugh a pasta roller to produce\nunique prints. We will also experiment with alternative pressing methods\,\nincluding tortilla presses and hand-burni shing tools\, to see how different\ntechniques affect texture\, line quali ty\, and final results. Teens\nwill learn how to transfer designs\ , control pressure\, and layer inks to\nbuild depth and variation in their prints. Expect a mix of precision and\nunpredictability as you test how u nconventional tools can produce\nsurprisingly professional results. This hands-on session draws from\ nArt Education for a Sustainable Planet by Joy G. Bertling*\, exploring ho w\nart education can foster environmental stewardship\, critical thinking\ , and\ncreative problem-solving.
Together\, we’ll experiment with \nearth-friendly and natural art materials\, discuss practical strategies for\nintegrating sustainability into visual arts curricula\, and develop\n classroom-ready ideas that connect artistic practice with environmental\na wareness. Participants will gain adaptable lesson concepts that encourage\ nstudents to reflect on their relationship with the planet through making\ nand meaning.
